Both PLLA and PDO thread lifts pull up sagging skin and regenerate collagen by implanting threads into the subcutaneous layer of the skin (to a depth of about 5mm) using small needles. These sutures, in turn, create micro-injuries that trigger collagen synthesis and tissue contraction.
PLLA threads are a relatively new option for thread lifting – a procedure that works to physically lift the facial structure and tissues into a higher and more youthful position. PLLA stands for poly-L-lactic acid, a substance that has been used for many years in Sculptra, an injectable facial rejuvenation treatment that works to stimulate collagen for a younger look.
Indications:
- Chin, face oval, nasolabial folds, forehead, eyebrows, nasolacrimal grooves, cheekbone areas
- Neck and decollete
- Abdomen
- Buttocks and inner thighs
- The inner surface of the hands
- Knees
The procedure of insertion is quite simple, the results are stable, side effects are minor and the complication rate is very low. PDO biodegradation occurs through a process of hydrolysis over a time period from 4 to 6 months, while the duration of the aesthetic result continues from 18 to 24 months.
